Jean-Pierre (Burundi)

Jean-Pierre (Burundi)

In 1996, Burundi was facing a civil war. Jean-Pierre was living in a refugee camp together with his wife. He was in Belgium for work, when the camp was attacked by armed men and his wife was forced to flee. He didn't know where she left for and requested assistance of the Tracing service in order to find her. Soon news arrived from his wife from neighbouring Uganda. After contact was re-established, they continued to communicate through Red Cross Messages. As soon as Jean-Pierre obtained the status of refugee in Belgium, he successfully applied for family reunification.
