Family reunification

The Red Cross tries to reunite separated families. During a conflict, the International Red Cross Committee is in constant negotiation with the warring parties. With the agreement of both sides, families are reunited across frontlines.

Belgian legislation foresees the right on family reunification. It is determined by law that only the partner and minor children of a person legally residing in Belgium are eligible for visa of family reunification.

The Red Cross Tracing service provides detailed information about the procedure, follows-up specific cases if required and helps to organize the journey to Belgium, once visa of family reunification are issued.
